DCU is currently ranked in the top 200 universities in the world for arts and humanities and in the top 250 universities for social sciences. Music at DCU is located in the School of Theology, Philosophy, and Music, in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. The School offers a range of undergraduate and masters-level music programmes, including an MA in Choral Studies, and promotes research in musicology, ethnomusicology, composition and performance by way of its doctoral programme, and the many projects carried out by its professors, lecturers and postdoctoral researchers. Music performance culture at DCU includes regular concerts by its many choirs and ensembles in jazz, popular and Irish traditional genres, and through the School’s long-running lunchtime concert series and the annual Fidelio Trio Winter Chamber Music Festival. Music at DCU has links with several stakeholders for music education and music development in Ireland and beyond, including: Sing Ireland; Music Generation; the Kodály Society of Ireland; Contemporary Music Centre; Society for Music Education in Ireland; Post-primary Music Teachers’ Association; International Council for Traditional Music (Ireland); Society for Musicology in Ireland; Liszt Academy, Hungary; and International Association for the Study of Popular Music (UK and Ireland).
