To sail in safety and comfort

When you initiate discussion on relevant topics, participants need to feel comfortable, safe and eager to engage.

We suggest therefore that you all agree to certain ‘rules’ that the group follows.

  • Respect
  • Confidentiality
  • Freedom to express, to disagree, to be ourselves
  • No judgement
  • Inclusive space, inclusive language, react with sensitivity, make no assumptions
  • Freedom to share to the degree comfortable, not being put to the spot
  • The right to pass
  • Flow of discussion: an equal space for all
  • Listen, really listen
  • Use I statements, speak from our own perspective
  • We can call on each other but in good faith
  • Protect the anonymity of others
  • Take care of ourselves
  • Be present, be engaged
  • Allow ourselves to make mistakes and learn
